Once Saturday morning rolls around, I'll tally up your votes and select the theme that is the group favorite of the three. Then I'll post an email announcing the new group theme and contest as usual sometime during the day on Saturday. I'll delete the votes cast in the thread at that time, and we'll start it over next week!

Wildlife on the Rocks will be the theme for the week of January 14 - 20 :
(any scene captured within a natural environment where the subject is a WILD animal that is obviously standing, laying, sitting or, or jumping between large, exposed rocks – no pets/domestic/captive/zoo animals, and no people, man-made objects, gardens, yards, marinas, neighborhoods or built-up areas allowed)

State, Provincial and National Parks IN WINTER will be the theme for the week of January 21 - 27:
(any scene captured within a natural environment where the subject is a beautiful, winter landscape with plenty of snow and/or ice which is captured in a state, provincial or national park [park name must be identified by name in title or description] – no small/local parks, and no people, man-made objects, gardens, yards, marinas, neighborhoods or built-up areas, and no pets/domestic/captive/zoo animals allowed)

Patterns Found in Rocks will be the theme for the week of January 28 – February 3:
(any scene captured within a natural environment where the subject is a rock or rocks which have interesting veins, grains, or other patterns display in them – no gardens, yards, marinas, neighborhoods or built-up areas, and no pets/domestic/captive animals, people, man-made objects, allowed)

Big and Small will be the theme for the week of February 4 - 10:
(any scene captured within a natural environment where the subject is a pair or group of WILD animals, at least one of which is much larger than at least one of which that is much smaller than the other(s). It can be two different species in the same shot, or adults with babies of the same species, as long as there is a major size difference between them – no pets/domestic/captive/zoo animals, and no people, man-made objects, gardens, yards, marinas, neighborhoods or built-up areas allowed)

By a mere margin of one vote, Caves and Caverns will be the theme for the week of February 11 - 17:
(any scene captured within a natural environment where the subject is a scene from INSIDE a natural cave or cavern – commercialized caverns are okay as long as there are no people, pets/domestic/captive animals, man-made objects, gardens, yards, marinas, neighborhoods or built-up areas involved in the image)

(any scene captured within a natural environment where the subject is a water source which is producing steam because the water temperature is warmer than the air temperature, such as at a natural hot spring, a winter lake that hasn’t frozen yet, a warm-water river in Yellowstone, etc. – no pets/domestic/captive animals, people, man-made objects, gardens, yards, marinas, neighborhoods or built-up areas allowed)

Small Birds will be the theme for the week of February 25 – March 2:
(any scene captured within a natural environment where the subject is some kind of WILD bird, which is no larger than a Robin, Thrush, Towhee or Catbird, for example [Jays, Crows and anything larger are too big for this theme!] – no pets/domestic/captive/zoo animals, and no people, man-made objects, gardens, yards, marinas, neighborhoods or built-up areas allowed)
